One night I said, “Yes Lord, I’ll meet you later.” But that time
never came, I fell asleep. Guilt crept in. Then these questions sunk in: "why do
you sleep or how could you sleep? But who’s to blame?"
The Lord encourages us to “keep on asking, and you will
receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking,
and the door will be opened to you.” (Matthew 7:7) An example of waiting is a
pregnant woman. During the baby’s developing stage, the mother would struggle
so hard to care for the child until birth. On the preaching of Ptr. Gener, our Sr. Pastor at Worship the King International, about
“Promise, Prayer, Fulfillment” he said that Prayer plays a major role between
the fulfillments of God’s promise. For instance the promised Messiah is first
prophesied in Genesis as the Seed of a Woman, in Isaiah as the weeping Prophet.
Then thousand years past, “…the word became flesh and dwelt among us” (John
1:14). But the promise of God will not be instantly fulfilled. “We have to
participate in prayer while conceiving them”, Ptr. Gener said. So even if the
present situation may hinder your prayers, the grace of God will not allow His
promise to be aborted. Why? Because “I am certain that God, who began the good
work within you, will continue His work until it is finally finished on the day
when Christ Jesus returns.” (Philippians 1:6) So let us always look at the
bigger picture of the promised inheritance allotted for us by nurturing it
through quality prayer.
